A Hubbard man pleaded guilty Thursday to aggravated vehicular homicide and two counts of OVI stemming from a fatal car crash in May.

Dylan C. Vrancich, 26, of Bell Avenue, admitted to causing the one-car crash on Colonial Drive in Liberty Township that killed his passenger, Nicholas Thompson, 41, of Youngstown.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Vrancich was driving a 2009 Pontiac G6 at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the vehicle, struck a utility pole and caught fire. Thompson died at the scene.

A blood alcohol test showed Vrancich’s BAC was 0.21, well above the legal limit of 0.08.

Trumbull County Common Pleas Court Judge Ronald J. Rice revoked Vrancich’s bond and ordered a preliminary investigation.

Vrancich faces a mandatory prison term of two to 12 years and a potential lifetime driver’s license suspension.
