UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson murder suspect Luigi Mangione has gained widespread attention for his courtroom fashion. During a recent hearing in a Manhattan court, the 26-year-old former Ivy League student wore a burgundy sweater and completed his look with a white collared shirt, light gray pants and orange shoes. And some people drooled over his fashion choices, with many going so far as to call him a “fashion icon.”

Shockingly, many who had previously hailed him as a hero, a celebrity or even a crush began to seek out the sweater and bought it in droves. The sweater, available for sale at Nordstrom, is now completely sold out.

Mangione attended his impeachment hearing on December 23 when he became an unlikely fashion influencer. He faces 11 counts in New York, including first-degree murder for promoting terrorism, second-degree murder for promoting terrorism and multiple weapons offenses.

People initially thought Mangione was wearing a $1,000 Maison Margiela sweater. However, it was later confirmed to be Nordstrom’s “Washable Merino Crew Neck Sweater,” reported The Independent.

Reactions from fans flooded social media, with one commenting: “Serve looks all over the place.” Another remarked: “Why is he so photogenic?” with a third simply adding: “Very nice.”

“The ‘washable merino crewneck’ that Luigi Mangione wore during his court hearing has been sold,” reads the caption of the video shared on X (formerly known as Twitter).

In court, Mangione pleaded not guilty to all charges as his attorney, Karen Agnifilo, raised concerns about the fairness of the trial, citing extensive security and the presence of New York City Mayor Eric Adams.

“They literally treat it like it’s some kind of political fodder, like some kind of show. He was put on display for all to see in the biggest killer walk I’ve ever seen in my career, it was completely unnecessary. He cooperated with law enforcement … There was no reason for the NYPD and everybody to have these large assault rifles,” Agnifilo argued before Judge Gregory Carro.

“It was perfectly choreographed, and what was the mayor of New York doing at this press conference, your honor? That made it all political,” she continued.
