UP woman arrested for using fake admit card in Police recruitment test

SHRAVASTHI: A woman has been arrested for allegedly using a fake admit card to appear at standard physical test during Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment despite failing the written exam, officials said on Sunday.
Shravasti Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Praveen Kumar Yadav told PTI, “A woman candidate named Richa Singh was arrested on Saturday for trying to take the standard physical test using a fake admit card.”
The recruitment process for the constable posts included a written exam held in August. Those who cleared the exam were invited for the document verification and standard physical test phase, which began on Friday, Yadav said.
Reserve Police Lines at Shravasti District Headquarters Bhimga was one of the centers for this phase.
“We were expecting 533 candidates at this center as per our list. No female candidates registered,” ASP said.
So when Richa Singh produced her admit card, the examiners became suspicious. Upon prior verification, it was found to be counterfeit.
“The admit card contained the photograph and details of Singh, a resident of Payagpur Bahraich districtbut the list number belonged to a male candidate named Mayank from Kanpur,” Yadav said.
Investigation revealed that Singh used a mobile editing app ‘Sweet Snap’ to edit and paste a different roll number on the fake admit card.
The police confiscated it forged documents and a tablet from Singh after registering a case under the relevant sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Kotwali Bhimga Police Station.
“The accused was arrested from Bhimga bus stand and sent to jail on Saturday after being produced in court,” the ASP said.
During cross-examination, Singh admitted that he had unsuccessfully appeared for the written examination at a center in Balrampur district in August.
She confessed that she wanted to hide her failure from family and friends and create the impression that she was participating in the physical testing phase.
