The annual Jekyll Island Treasure Hunt is back!

JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. – The new year brings excitement to South Georgia as Jekyll Island hosts its long-awaited annual treasure hunt.

This two-month event invites families to explore the island while enjoying its natural beauty and diverse trails.

Every January, colorful plastic globes are hidden on the island, waiting to be discovered. These spheres lead participants on an adventure through hiking trails, beach trails and bike trails, providing a fun way to connect with nature and community.

Participants who find an orb can trade it in at the Visitor Center for a unique reward: a handmade, glass-blown orb valued at $75. For lucky treasure hunters, this prize is completely free.

The hunt is open to all and does not require an entry fee. However, visitors must pay a fee of US$8 per vehicle to access the island. The event runs from January 1 to the end of February, giving plenty of time for families and friends to join in the fun.

The Jekyll Island Treasure Hunt is a celebration of community and outdoor adventure, providing a memorable start to the year.
