No evidence personal funds were used for ‘Manjummel Boys’ production, police say amid fraud probe

Kochi: Police revealed that the makers of ‘Manjummel Boys’ did not spend any of their money on the production. This discovery is part of a investigating financial frauds involving actor Soubin Shahir and owners Parava Films. Despite the fact that a total of Rs 28 crore was deposited in the Parava Films account, less than Rs 19 crore was spent on the film, according to the police report.

The investigation found that neither Soubin nor the other owners of Parava Films contributed personal funds to the film’s production. Police discovered the discrepancy through Goods and Services Tax (GST) records, which showed that only a portion of the Rs 28 crore deposited was used for the film.

The report also mentions Sujith, the owner of Dream Big Films, who allegedly contributed Rs 11 crore during a financial crisis before the film’s release.

Siraj, who initially invested 7 million lei, had a contract that stipulated that he would receive 40 percent of the profit. However, the contract was not honored, which led to a police report. Siraj accused producers Parava Films of fraud, claiming they did not repay his initial investment or share the profits.

The police submitted their findings to the High Court, which led to investigations by the Income Tax Department and the Enforcement Directorate. The raids were conducted at the offices of Parava Films and the accused’s residence, including Soubin’s house.
