Man accused of threatening and stealing Fargo South student’s phone

FARGO, ND (Valley News Live) – A man has been arrested, accused of stealing a phone from a Fargo High School student.

Fidele Ndaruhutse is accused of robbery with a dangerous weapon in the case.

The alleged robbery occurred on Oct. 30, 2024, as the Fargo South student was walking home from school along 15th Ave. S.

Court documents say Ndaruhutse told the student to call his friend. When the call did not go through, Ndaruhutse picked up the phone and asked for the password.

The documents say Ndaruhutse punched the student in the chest. He also told the student he had a knife and would use it if he didn’t get the code right.

Ndaruhutse put his email on the Verizon account and told the student to leave, according to court records.

However, Ndaruhutse was not arrested until 28 November 2024.

He was arrested that day in connection with another crime. Ndaruhutse is charged with robbery and aggravated sexual assault in the case.

Documents say Fargo Police found evidence linking him to the incident involving the Fargo South student.

In Minnesota, Ndaruhutse was convicted or robbed a woman and put a knife to her throat in 2019. Court documents say he is an illegal immigrant.

However, officials could not deport him at the time because he was only 16 years old.

He is due in court on January 8, 2025.
