Authorities in Trinity County seized 8 dogs and arrested a man on neglect charges

TRINITY COUNTY, Texas (KTRE) – Deputies with the Trinity County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Trinity man after responding to a complaint and reported finding several malnourished dogs.

Christopher James Rode, 35, is charged with five counts of misdemeanor-A cruelty to non-animals, misdemeanor-A resisting arrest, misdemeanor-B failure to identify and multiple Class C misdemeanors.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies responded to the 200 block of Elephant Walk Street on Tuesday for loose dog complaints. Deputies found two dogs in front of the home and several others on chains in the road that were severely malnourished. Another was found in a small homeless kennel, according to their Facebook post.

The post states that Rode was confronted and resisted arrest and had to be pepper sprayed.

Deputies removed eight dogs from the property.
