MSU’s Lawrence was elected vice chair of the board for the USAID-funded Feed the Future Innovation Labs

STARKVILLE, Miss. — Mississippi State’s Mark Lawrence has been tapped for a leadership role on the Feed the Future Innovation Lab Council, where he will help global experts address pressing issues in food security.

Lawrence, the William L. Giles Distinguished Professor in MSU’s College of Veterinary Medicine and director of MSU’s Feed the Future Fish Innovation Lab, funded by the US Agency for International Development, will serve a one-year term as vice chair of the Lab’s Board of Innovation. , followed by a one-year term as president.

“Mississippi State University is a trusted partner in the U.S. government’s efforts to end global hunger and food insecurity,” said Julie Jordan, MSU vice president for research and economic development. “Dr. Lawrence’s election as vice president is a testament to his leadership of the Fish Innovation Lab and his work to create solutions for a more resilient and safer food future.”

The Fish Innovation Lab is managed by MSU’s Global Center for Aquatic Health and Food Security. The Innovation Lab Council advocates for Feed the Future research programs and facilitates the coordination of activities among the 16 Feed the Future Innovation Labs as part of the US government’s global hunger and food security initiative.
