NIB warns profits to fall by up to 10% as New Zealand claims rise

Private health insurer NIB has warned full-year earnings will fall by up to 10% this year due to widening losses in its New Zealand business, where rising claims made it unprofitable in mid-December.

NIB’s guidance for core operating profit of between $235 million and $250 million for the year to June 30, 2025 is lower than the $257.5 million reported last year and below the median analyst forecast of 261, 5 million dollars, according to Bloomberg data.
