A new mixed-use development near Carriage Crossing won key approval Monday, Nov. 11, from the Collierville Board of Mayor and Aldermen.

Boyle Investment’s Morrison Village won preliminary site plan approval by a 5-1 vote, with Councilman Billy Patton voting no. Planning Commission unanimously approved the project in September.

The development will add apartments and businesses to the southern portion of Houston Levee Road between Tenn. 385 and Shea Road. The rights to the apartment were granted in 1998. Legally, councilors had no ability to refuse them.

Apartment developments in Collierville stem from previous decisions

“That was before any of us were on this board,” noted Councilman John Worley.

Boyle proposes 100 apartments in multi-purpose buildings. There will be 72 studio or one-bedroom units and 18 two-bedroom units. Only 10 units will include three bedrooms, which should mean little impact on suburban schools, Boyle officials said.

Below the apartments, various shops will complement the residences on the ground floor.
