BREAKING: Final tally points to musical chairs in County Limerick

The FINAL tally was completed in County Limerick just after 12.30pm at Limerick Racecourse.

Minister Patrick O’Donovan (Fine Gael) leads with 26%, followed by MP Richard O’Donoghue (Ireland Independent) with 23% and Minister of State Niall Colllins (Fianna Fail) with 20%.

In 2020, Mr Collins came out on top, followed by Mr O’Donovan, who topped the poll, and Mr O’Donoghue. The Irish Independent candidate has seen his vote almost double since 2020.

Next highest on Saturday is Sinn Fein’s Joanne Collins on 13%.

The other 11 candidates are between 0% and 4%.

Cllr Bridie Collins (Fianna Fail) 4%; Cllr Noreen Stokes (Fine Gael) 3%; Michael Ryan (Aontu) 3%; Rob O’Donnell (Green Party) 2%; Jim Barrett (non-partisan) 2%; Richie Crehan (non-party) 1%; Laura Fahy (People Before Profit-Solidarity) 1%; Donna O’Loughlin (Irish Freedom Party) 1%; Lorraine O’Sullivan (Irish People) 1%; Gerben Uunk (Animal Welfare Party) 1% and April Sheehan Corkery (non-party) 0%.

The party breakdown is Fine Gael 29%; Fianna Fail 24%; Independent Ireland 23%; Sinn Fein 13%; Green Party 2%; and others 9%.

The total number of votes counted was 44,512. 145 boxes were counted this Saturday morning.

Voter turnout in County Limerick was 59%.
