The shooting victim was linked to two overnight burglaries in DC

WASHINGTON, DC — A 24-year-old man has been arrested in connection with two burglaries and a shooting that occurred early Wednesday morning in Northeast DC.

Sixth District officers responded to reports of a shooting around 5:00 a.m. on the 4200 block of Edson Place, Northeast. A short time later, an adult male was found nearby suffering from gunshot wounds. Authorities transported the man, who was conscious and breathing, to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

As detectives investigated the shooting, they linked the injured man to two previous burglaries in the Northeast. At approximately 1:55 a.m., multiple suspects attempted to break into a business in the 3700 block of 10th Street Northeast, but fled after causing damage without stealing any property. Minutes later, at 2:12 a.m., the suspects forced their way into a business in the 3100 block of 12th Street Northeast, stole items and fled in a vehicle.

Police arrested Robert Brandon, 24, of Northwest DC, charging him with two counts of second-degree burglary. Investigators have not disclosed whether other suspects are being sought.

The shooting and burglaries remain under investigation, and authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the Metropolitan Police Department.

Police are offering a reward of up to $10,000 for tips leading to an arrest or conviction in these or other violent crimes in the District.
