US President-elect Donald Trump announced on Saturday that he has nominated Charles Kushner, a prominent New Jersey businessman, to serve as ambassador to France.

Kushner is the father of Jared Kushner, who is Trump’s son-in-law, who served as a senior adviser during his presidency.

“I am pleased to nominate Charles Kushner of New Jersey to serve as US Ambassador to France,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.

“He is an extraordinary business leader, philanthropist and dealmaker who will be a strong advocate representing our country and its interests,” he added.

Kushner is the founder and chairman of the Kushner Companies, a privately held real estate firm, and has held influential roles, including being recognized as the New Jersey Entrepreneur of the Year by Ernst & Young.

He has also been involved in public service, including on the US Holocaust Memorial Council and as chairman of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
