NW man in court for attempted double murder

The suspect was arrested by members of the Potchefstroom Flying Squad in the early hours of last Sunday.

The suspect was allegedly involved in an argument with his 30-year-old girlfriend and another woman.

He later shot the woman in the stomach and leg in the parking area of a pub near Boitekong.

He also tried to shoot his girlfriend, but the gun malfunctioned and he fled the scene.

The vehicle was tracked to Klerksdorp several hours later and members of the Flying Squad stopped it on the R30.

The accused was arrested and his vehicle and a firearm were seized.

He appeared in the Rustenburg Magistrates Court on Tuesday on two counts of attempted murder, where he was remanded in custody until his next court appearance on Thursday.
