Man and woman charged over stolen cars and alleged assault of three police officers in south Geelong

A man and woman have been charged following their arrest over stolen cars and the alleged assault of a trio of police officers in southern Victoria.

A stolen gray Ford utility was spotted by officers driving in a convoy of a stolen black Subaru station wagon along the Surf Coast Highway around 10am on Monday.

Officers allegedly attempted to intercept the utility on Peter Street in the south Geelong suburb of Grovedale.

The wagon allegedly drove into the police and also hit the officer.

The police officer was slightly injured and was treated at the scene.

During the arrest of the two, two other police officers were assaulted, suffering minor injuries, before being taken to hospital for treatment.

A 28-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman were arrested at the scene.

The man was charged with aggravated intentional endangerment of a police officer by driving, assault, theft of a motor vehicle and resisting police.

He was remanded in custody to appear in Geelong Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.

The woman was charged with aggravated willful endangerment of a police officer by driving, theft of a motor vehicle, assault, resisting police and drug offences.

She was also remanded to appear in the same court on Tuesday.
