Suspects in Dicks robbery

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Two people were arrested Saturday after a robbery at Dick’s Sporting Goods in Lincoln, police said.

Officers were dispatched to the sporting goods store at 61st and O streets just after 5:45 p.m. on a theft report.

One of the suspects, Lakisha Meridy, 47, of Omaha, was found trying to hide several bags of merchandise under a clothing rack, according to LPD.

Officials said an officer grabbed her arm and told her to put her hands behind her back. She began to retreat and it turned into a fight.

Meridy was shocked by a Taser and then taken into custody, LPD said.

Another officer got into a struggle with Chaan Wichar, 25, of Omaha. She was also arrested, according to police.

Officers said a small pry bar to remove security tags was found in her purse.

In total, nearly $2,000 worth of merchandise was recovered.

Meridy and Wichar were taken to the Lancaster County Jail on suspicion of burglary, resisting arrest and obstructing a peace officer.
