Palmyra woman charged with shoplifting in Marion

A Wayne County woman has been charged with theft after allegedly stealing from a Dollar General store in Marion.

Melissa R. Helker, 43, of Vienna Road, was arrested Dec. 11 following an investigation, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office reported. Deputies said store staff observed Helker place items in her purse and leave the store without paying.

Helker was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Marion Town Court at a later date.
