One arrested and one injured in workplace stabbing

FORT ST. JOHN, BC — Police say someone has been arrested for an aggravated assault incident at a Fort St. John.

Officers from the local RCMP detachment say they were called to a job site on 259 Road around 8:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9, after a work-related accident.

Initial reports indicated that an adult male was injured after falling through a metal gate. However, EMS personnel found his injuries consistent with stab wounds and notified the police.

“An investigation identified a suspect who was arrested for aggravated assault,” said a statement from the RCMP detachment in Fort St. John.

“The victim was taken to the hospital (and) is reported to be in stable condition. Both individuals are known to each other through work.”

Police say the suspect remains in police custody while the investigation into the incident continues.

No other information is being shared at this time, but police say more details may be released as they become available.”
