Twin brothers Oren and Alon Alexander, along with their older brother Tal, are accused of using their wealth and influence to target and victimize women. Two of the brothers appeared before a Miami-Dade judge Thursday, where prosecutors emphasized the seriousness of the charges.

Oren and Alon Alexander, dressed in hunter green suicide vests typically reserved for high-profile inmates, appeared in court on sexual battery charges stemming from a 2016 incident prosecutors described as a “gang rape” . Alexandru’s lawyer, along with their parents, attended the hearing.

“This defendant has access to private jets, private boats, he’s a flight risk,” prosecutor Natalie Snyder argued in court.

Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Mindy Glazer, who was required by law to treat the charge as a dangerous crime, denied Alexander a bond.

“Because it is considered a dangerous crime, I am being asked to hold you without bond,” Glazer said, adding that there was also a federal hold stemming from an indictment in New York.

This indictment accuses the Alexander brothers of sex trafficking crimes over an 11-year period.

According to the US Attorney’s Office, the brothers “repeatedly and violently drugged, sexually assaulted and raped dozens of female victims.”

Morgan & Morgan attorney Carissa Peebles, who represents the victim involved in the 2016 case, filed a civil suit in New York.

“Defendants do not view women as human beings, but rather as objects to satisfy their twisted and violent desires,” Peebles wrote in the complaint.

The victim, through her lawyer at Morgan & Morgan, also issued a statement on Thursday, which you can read below.

Court proceedings highlight serious allegations

While in court Thursday, Oren Alexander pleaded for leniency, citing his wife’s impending due date with their first child. However, Glazer denied the obligation, citing the nature of the crimes and a federal hold.

“This is considered a dangerous crime,” Judge Glazer said. “I am bound by law to grant the state’s request for preventive detention.”

Prosecutors say the brothers committed acts of sexual assault and trafficking over a decade, with incidents reported as early as 2016.

“These men used their fame, money and power to create opportunities to commit sex crimes,” Miami-Dade State’s Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle said at a news conference Wednesday.

Details of the alleged offences

The charges stem from multiple incidents. One victim reported being lured to a Miami Beach home under the guise of attending a barbecue in 2016. Instead, she was assaulted by several people, including the Alexander twins and their cousin, Ohad Fisherman, who remains in freedom.

In another case, a victim described being drugged before being assaulted by Oren Alexander after a 2017 real estate event.

A third alleged victim recounted an incident in 2021 in which she was raped at Oren Alexander’s home after he confiscated her cellphone, claiming it was to protect the privacy of his “famous house.”

Federal charges and extensive investigation

The Alexander brothers also face federal charges, including conspiracy to commit sex trafficking and trafficking by force, fraud or coercion. Tal Alexander faces an additional charge related to forced sex trafficking.

Federal investigators say the brothers used drugs like cocaine and GHB to facilitate the attacks.

Neighbors near the Alexanders’ Miami Beach property have reported suspicious activity, with numerous women seen arriving at the home under unusual circumstances.

Authorities praised the courage of the victims who came forward. “Thank you to the brave women who bravely stepped forward,” Fernandez Rundle said, encouraging others to share their experiences.

According to the US Attorney’s Office, “Between at least 2010 and at least 2021, the Alexander brothers worked together and with others to repeatedly and violently drug, sexually assault and rape dozens of female victims.”

Both the Oren brothers and Alon Alexander are expected to appear before a division judge on Friday, where their attorney will argue for their release, while Tal Alexander remains at the Federal Detention Center in Miami.
