Purbachal plots: ACC starts probe against Hasina, Rehana and 4 other members of Sheikh family

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has launched an inquiry against ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, her sister Sheikh Hasina and four other members of the Sheikh family in connection with allegations of misappropriation of 60 kathas from the government plot at Purbachal in the capital.

Director General (DG) ACC, Mr Akhtar Hossain, confirmed the issue to journalists today (December 26).

Sheikh Hasina, her son Sajeed Wazed Joy and daughter Saima Wazed Putul, her sister Sheikh Rehana, Rehana’s son Radwan Mujib Siddiq and daughter Azmina Siddique allegedly illegally acquired six 10 katha plots on Road No-203 under Sector 27 of the Diplomatic Area in the Project Purbachal New City with the help of Rajuk seniors, Akhtar said.

The ACC has decided to look into these allegations, he added.

Earlier, the High Court had formed a three-member committee to probe the irregularities in allotment of the 60 kathas in illegally allotted plots in the name of Hasina and her family members in Rajuk’s Purbachal project.

The committee, headed by former High Court judge Miftah Uddin Choudhury, has been asked to submit its report within four months.
