The missing women died after falling into the lake while walking their dog on Christmas Eve

The body of a missing Danvers woman was found in Wenham Lake in Beverly after she walked her dog near the lake on Christmas Eve and never returned.

Owen Kasozi, 30, was walking his dog in JC Phillips Nature Reserve at 3pm on Christmas Eve but never returned. The Beverly Police Department, Beverly Fire Department, Massachusetts State Police, State Police Airwing Unit and Northeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council (NEMLEC) began searching for the woman.

The dog was found without Kasozi Tuesday night in Topsfield.

for christmas authority said Kasozi was found dead in Lake Wenham.

Police believe Kasozi fell into the frozen lake and was unable to get out on her own. No foul play is suspected.

“This is not the outcome of the search that anyone would have hoped for,” said Essex County District Attorney Paul Tucker. “We appreciate the efforts of all our law enforcement partners who worked diligently on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day to locate Owen Kasozi. Our thoughts are with her family as they begin to cope with this painful loss.”
