Indore Merchants Ban UPI Payments – Indore Apparel Merchants Deny UPI Payments – Indore News

Garment retailers in Indore in Madhya Pradesh have decided to stop accepting payments through Unified Payments Interface (UPI), citing increasing cases of cyber fraud. The Indore Retail Merchants Association announced the decision after several incidents surfaced where merchants faced monetary losses due to fraudulent UPI transactions.

“Several merchants have had their accounts frozen due to fraud involving UPI payments,” said Akshay Jain, president of the association. He added, “Until the government takes concrete steps to address these issues and ensure secure digital transactions, we will not accept UPI. payment.”

The association, which represents more than 600 traders in the city, said payments would now only be accepted by cash or credit cards. Merchants believe it will help reduce online fraud and prevent financial losses.

Merchants have also called on the government to implement stricter measures to secure digital payment systems. They plan to raise the issue at the next meeting of the Ahilya Chambers of Commerce, urging the authorities to improve the security of online transactions.

The decision received broad support from the association’s members, who consider it necessary to restore confidence in payment methods. “This issue affects both merchants and consumers. A solution is essential to maintain trust in digital payments,” Jain said.

The association said it would reconsider the ban only after the government introduced measures to ensure fraud-free transactions.
