Sioux City man accused of assaulting relatives on Christmas Eve

SIOUX CITY — A Sioux City man was arrested on suspicion of breaking into a home and assaulting a relative and another person on Christmas Eve.

Stanton Cobbs, 36, was booked into the Woodbury County Jail early Wednesday on a charge of second-degree burglary, a Class C felony.

According to a complaint filed in Woodbury County District Court, Cobbs was asked to leave and not return to a home in the 700 block of Isabella Street on Tuesday. He was later dropped off at around 11.09pm after “causing trouble” at his mother’s house.

A man from the Isabella Street house saw Cobbs left and told him he was not welcome there. Cobbs kicked the gate against a chain link fence and ripped it off its hinges, then kicked out the glass door to the front entrance, the complaint said. Once inside, Cobbs assaulted the other man, punching him at least 12 times and took a piece of glass from the broken door and cut the victim’s ear. Cobbs then began assaulting his aunt and threatened to kill her and the other man.
