LOWER MERION — Lower Merion police are investigating a string of burglaries in Bryn Mawr over the past few weeks.

According to police, the most recent burglaries, with two in the same night, occurred on December 21.

A neighbor in the 800 block of Roscommon Road in Bryn Mawr heard an alarm go off at the house next door. Three subjects were seen running from the home and getting into a dark colored SUV.

A window on the second floor was broken, having been accessed by stacking patio furniture. There was no loss and police reviewed security video.

Also on the night of Dec. 21, residents of the 800 block of Gatemore Road in Bryn Mawr returned to find heavy looting on the second floor. The jewelry was stolen.

Patio furniture was used to access and smash a second floor window. Police said the security system was not armed.

Another break-in happened Sunday evening, Dec. 15, in the 600 block of Black Rock Road in Bryn Mawr.

A chair was used to access an additional roof to break a second floor window. The master bedroom was ransacked and jewelry was taken.

Police reported that all three burglaries at Bryn Mawr are believed to be related to ongoing problems with theft rings in South America.

Police also remind residents that if they will be gone for 48 hours, to sign up for the police department’s vacant house program at www.lowermerion.org/departments/police-department/services/vacant-house- program-form.
