LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Nevada Senator Catherine Cortez Masto is working to secure millions of dollars to help rural and tribal law enforcement agencies.

“The Invest to Protect Act passed the Senate unanimously and will allocate $250 million to help these agencies invest in mental health recruitment, retention, training and support.

“I know from reaching out and talking to our Nevada law enforcement, including our rural areas and our tribal law enforcement, that they have challenges because they don’t have a large revenue base,” Cortez said Masto.

In southern Nevada, Boulder City police and the Paiute Police Department would be eligible.

Cortez Masto says he hopes a companion bill in the House will pass next month.
