Call Midwife fans ‘figure out’ Roger’s true identity in Nancy twist | TV & Radio | Showbiz and TV

Call the Midwife fans are convinced newcomer Roger Noble (played by Conor O’Donnell) will bring plenty of drama as his romance with nurse Nancy Corrigan (Megan Cusack) has been confirmed.

When Christmas came to Poplar, Nancy was feeling lonely until a charming and funny pharmaceutical salesman named Roger wandered through the doors of Dr. Turner’s office.

There was an instant spark between the two that grew when Roger returned the next day. In a dignified attempt at flirting, Roger joked before finally asking Nancy on a date.

After initially turning Roger down, the midwife changed her mind, though uncomfortable when she learned she was a single mother to her adored daughter Colette (Francesca Fullilove).

As she was dedicated to serving as a midwife and caring for Colette, love didn’t agree for Nancy – but that’s about to change.

Roger and Nancy enjoyed a magical date at the fun fair and kissed. He then twisted his ankle as Nancy looked on laughing.

The next day, in fact, when he showed up on Nonnatus’ doorstep to give Nancy flowers as a thank you. Colette was the one to receive him, and he was shocked to hear her call out “mommy” in reference to Nancy, who didn’t mention that she had a child.

Seeing Roger and Collette together, Nancy panicked as she rushed off to work. But, seemingly unfazed by the situation, Roger persisted and asked Nancy out again.

He was also quick to push the idea of taking Nancy and Colette out, and because he covered the ground with flowers and sweet talk, she agreed.

Roger was keen to show his commitment to Nancy after only seeing each other a few times, which raised concerns among viewers.

Other fans are certain that Roger is a political activist, and as the conflict in Northern Ireland escalates and the 1970s arrive, that could prove problematic.

Addressing X, one person wrote: “Why I think Roger will be a problem for Nancy #CallTheMdwife.”

A second declared: “Nancy’s drinking has something to do with the problems I’m feeling considering it’s 1969. #callthemidwife.”

A third chimed in: “I don’t trust Nancy’s new man #CallTheMdwife.”

“Hope Nancy’s new guy doesn’t like bombarding her #CallTheMdwife,” added another.

Call the Midwife returns on Sunday, January 5 BBC One and iPlayer at 8pm
