STAE COLLEGE, Pa. (WTAJ) — A non-citizen of the United States was arrested in State College after being accused of shoplifting at Target.

Izabel Nicolae, 19, was arrested on Dec. 23 and denied bail, citing that she had no address and was not a United States citizen, court documents show.

Patton Township Police said they were called Monday around 3:24 p.m. by Target loss prevention regarding a woman, later identified as Nicolae, placing items in a cart and walking out the front doors without pay, according to the criminal complaint.

Police said they spotted Nicolae in Michael’s parking lot and pulled him over. According to the complaint, she was identified and claimed she was Christmas shopping for her sister. Police added that Target loss prevention was able to identify her as the same person who left with the shopping cart.

The items in the cart totaled $249.19, the complaint states.

Police noted that she told them she was a transient and was just passing through the area.

She was charged with retail theft and booked into the Center County Jail with bond denied.
