SINGAPORE – Two strangers accused of breaking into landed property in Singapore They each received another felony charge involving cash and valuables totaling more than $6,000.

Chinese nationals Feng Yunlong, 38, and Zhang Yongxiang, 52, appeared in a district court on December 27 and are now accused of breaking into a house in Zehnder Road near Pasir Panjang Road, around 4:00 p.m. on 18 Dec

The pair allegedly stole items, including a wallet worth $5,000 and several pieces of jewelry. Each man now faces two counts of housebreaking.

On December 20, each was charged for a similar crime of housebreaking.

They were accused of breaking into a house in Greenleaf View, off Holland Road, at around 9pm on December 16 to steal two watches worth a total of almost $9,000.

Police said earlier that officers arrested them on December 18 after receiving reports of housebreaking and theft at both locations. Officers identified the Chinese nationals after studying footage from security cameras in the area.

They tracked the men to a Joo Chiat hotel and arrested them at around 6pm – about six hours after the first report was made on December 18, police said at a press conference on December 19.

officers also recovered two watches worth a total of approximately $8,800, a branded case valued at approximately $5,000, approximately $3,570 in cash and an assortment of jewelry.

On December 26, police took the pair to the Greenleaf View property in a visit that lasted around 20 minutes.

In property law it was a site of a semi-detached house. The Straits Times understands that Zhang allegedly climbed into the victim’s property from the third floor of the construction site, while Feng is believed to have stood guard outside.

Police have not ruled out the possibility that Zhang and Feng are linked to syndicates that were active in Singapore in mid-2024.

It has previously been reported that international crime syndicates have trespassed on landed property here, stealing approximately $3.85 million from at least 10 homes between June and August. The gangs mostly targeted houses near the Railway Corridor and around Bukit Timah Road. At least one house in Windsor Park Road, in the Upper Thomson area, was also broken into.

The cases involving Zhang and Feng were adjourned to January 3, 2025.

For each charge of housebreaking, an offender can be jailed for up to 10 years and fined.
