Call the Midwife fans are convinced newcomer Roger Noble will stir up some drama thanks to his budding romance with nurse Nancy Corrigan. When Christmas came to Poplar, Nancy was feeling lonely until a charming and funny pharmaceutical salesman named Roger wandered through the doors of Dr. Turner’s office.

The chemistry was palpable from their very first meeting, growing even stronger after a hilariously awkward flirtation that made Roger work up the courage to ask. Nancy out. Although Nancy initially refused, citing her responsibilities as a single mother to her daughter Colette, she eventually accepted, marking a turning point in her life where love might just be on the horizon.

A date at the fair saw sparks fly and even a minor injury that left Roger with a twisted ankle couldn’t dampen the blossoming romance as Nancy giggled at the incident, reports. Express. But the real test came when Roger arrived at Nonnatus’ house the next day with flowers, only to be greeted by little Colette calling out “mummy” – which is when he discovered Nancy’s secret.

Although the revelation sent Nancy dashing off to work, Roger didn’t shy away, but doubled down, extending another date invitation. Roger, eager to impress Nancy and Collette, made a romantic gesture by preparing a flower-filled decoration, which won them over. But after only a few brief encounters with Nancy, Roger’s intensity raised suspicions among viewers.

Some fans are convinced that Roger is a political activist, and as the conflict in Northern Ireland escalates and the 1970s arrive, that could prove problematic. Addressing X, one person said: “Why do I think Roger will be trouble for Nancy? A second added: “Nancy’s drinking has something to do with the issues I’m feeling considering it’s 1969. #callthemidwife.”

A third said: “I don’t trust Nancy’s new man #CallTheMoafe.” A fourth added: “I hope Nancy’s new guy doesn’t like bombarding her #CallTheWood.”
