J&K CM Omar Abdullah organizes public awareness program to address people’s concerns – The Week

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah organized a public information program at Raabta office on Thursday, interacting with delegates and people from across Kashmir. The event served as a platform for citizens to voice their concerns and seek administrative solutions.

Delegations representing sectors like education, health, labor and handicrafts met the chief minister to present their problems and propose actionable solutions.

The J&K College Teachers Association has requested the Chief Minister to consider raising the retirement age of college teachers, stressing the need for continuity of academic expertise.

The Kashmiri Shawl Makers Welfare Foundation highlighted the challenges faced by traditional artisans and appealed for government support to sustain the shawl-making trade.

A group of hot mix plant owners expressed industry-specific concerns and sought administrative intervention to resolve operational difficulties. J&K Casual Laborers United Front has demanded increased welfare measures for casual labourers. The physiotherapists also met the Chief Minister, seeking solutions to the problems affecting their profession.

Representatives of the Health Workers’ Protection Association expressed concern about health professionals, while the Employees’ Joint Action Committee (EJAC) called on the government to formulate a comprehensive strategy to improve the welfare of government employees.

Contractors involved in the Saubhagya scheme, particularly from Ganderbal and South Kashmir, have expressed concern over the delays in the project and sought government intervention to speed up the process.
Beyond the delegates, individuals approached the Chief Minister with personal grievances and suggestions, seeking assistance in various issues affecting their lives.

Traders at prominent markets in Srinagar, including Lal Chowk, Hari Singh High Street, Poloview, Regal Chowk, Maisuma and Court Road, submitted a memorandum of demands. They called for initiatives to revitalize business centers, improve infrastructure and increase traffic in the city’s commercial areas.

Abdullah assured all stakeholders that their genuine concerns would be promptly addressed, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to resolve issues with patience and diligence.

The public outreach program highlighted the administration’s commitment to responsive and inclusive governance by engaging directly with citizens and addressing their concerns.
