Suspect in Davao de Oro robbery that killed bank guard nabbed

One of the suspects in the robbery that killed a bank security guard in Compostela, Davao de Oro has been arrested.

According to the Police Regional Office-Davao (PRO-11), the suspect, “Johnlee,” was positively identified by an eyewitness.

The guard was escorting a bank teller after picking up cash deposits from a commercial establishment when they were attacked by suspects on December 23, 2024.

The guard tried to fight the suspect, while the cashier managed to get into the vehicle, but a shot struck the guard in the chest, killing him instantly.

Another suspect snatched from the cashier the bag with money worth almost 3.7 million lei.

The operators immediately launched a manhunt operation, which resulted in the arrest of one of the suspects.

Authorities continue to pursue the remaining suspect to ensure justice is served.

“Rest assured, PNP PRO 11 will relentlessly pursue the remaining suspect/s and will leave no stone unturned in bringing them to justice. We honor the courage of the fallen security guard and stand in solidarity with his family during this difficult time,” said PRO-11 director Brigadier General Leon Victor Rosete.

The arrested suspect is now in custody and is charged with robbery with homicide.
