CBI files chargesheet against Partha Chatterjee in primary recruitment scam – The Week

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed a chargesheet against Partha Chatterjee in an alleged cash-for-job scam on Friday, a day after it began framing charges against the former West Bengal education minister in a Directorate enforcement special (ED) court in Kolkata in another alleged recruitment scam.

While the ED’s charges against Chatterjee and 53 others come as part of its investigations into the money laundering case related to the alleged West Bengal School Service Commission (SSC) recruitment scam, the CBI is probing the TMC MLA in another alleged cash-for-job. scam in the West Bengal Board of Primary Education (WBPE).

A special emergency court in Kolkata has started framing charges against him and 53 others as directed by the apex court, which has already granted conditional bail to MP Behala Paschim in the money laundering case.

On Friday, the Central Crime Investigation Agency filed its case against Chatterjee and two other accused, namely Ayan Sil and Santa Gangopadhyay, in the City Sessions Court in Kolkata.

The CBI has reportedly alleged that the former minister took bribes from more than 1,000 job seekers on the pretext of offering them jobs.

The CBI had arrested Chatterjee on October 1 in connection with the alleged cash-for-job scam at the primary education board.

The agency had earlier questioned the politician in its investigations associated with the alleged SSC recruitment scam and named him as one of the accused in its charge sheets. The matter is currently subjugated in the Supreme Court.

Meanwhile, the 72-year-old’s plea for bail in the CBI case related to the alleged mayoral council recruitment scam was rejected by the Calcutta High Court on Tuesday. He has been behind bars for over two years.
