J&K CM maintains public interactions, ensures rectification of issues on priority

As part of the public activity in Kashmir, Chief Minister (CM) J&K Omar Abdullah on Thursday heard the grievances of the people and interacted with the delegations, persons from the Raabita Public Information Office in Srinagar.

CM Omar, who is stationed in Srinagar due to cold weather conditions, met several delegations and emphasized his government’s commitment to address the challenges faced by various sectors of the society.

The CM interacted with various stakeholders, including representatives from the education, handicrafts, labor and healthcare sectors, who highlighted issues that required immediate attention.

Among the delegates, the J&K College Teachers Association urged the CM to consider the demand to increase the retirement age of college teachers in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Kashmiri Shawl Makers Welfare Foundation, comprising artisans from various areas, highlighted the challenges faced by the traditional shawl-making trade and sought government support to protect their livelihood.

Similarly, a five-member delegation of Hot Mix plant owners apprised the CM about the problems faced by their industry, seeking timely interventions.

The J&K Casual Laborers United Front, led by its state president, expressed concern over the welfare of casual labourers, while the deputation of physiotherapists briefed the CM about sector-specific challenges that needed redressal.

Representatives of the Health Workers Welfare Association, led by their president, discussed issues affecting health professionals and the Employee Joint Action Committee (EJAC) highlighted the need to comprehensively address employee welfare.

A delegation of Saubhagya contractors from Ganderbal and South Kashmir sought government support to address operational hurdles in executing projects under the Saubhagya scheme.

The public information program also saw many people meet the CM, presenting grievances and suggestions for improvement on a number of issues affecting them.

The government spokesperson said the CM has assured all deputations and individuals of a patient and responsive approach, stressing that their genuine concerns will be addressed on priority.

A joint delegation of traders of various Bazaar Committees of Lal Chowk City Center and other areas also appealed to the CM during the programme.

The delegation informed the CM about various issues of the traders community in Lal Chowk, Hari Singh High Street, Poloview, Regal Chowk, Maisuma, Court Road and other areas of the city.

They also submitted a memorandum of demands to the CM asking for development and revival of businesses and increase in the number of customers in City Central Lal Chowk and other markets of Srinagar City.

“The CM has assured the delegation of redressal of genuine concerns and issues on priority,” the spokesperson said.
