Burglary suspect accused of drinking half a bottle of stolen Fireball, falling asleep in hallway

BATES COUNTY, Mo. (KCTV) – A repeat offender is facing charges after he was allegedly found intoxicated and asleep in a Bates County convenience store Thursday.

According to the officer, a store employee called for help at 9:47 a.m. on Dec. 26 after a man with prior trespassing citations entered the store, stole a bottle of Fireball whiskey and fell asleep in an aisle.

The man, later identified as Bradley Buhrer of Shawnee Mission, Kansas, allegedly took the Fireball off a shelf. Employees said they saw him hiding it in his jacket and sneaking drinks as he moved around the store.

The officer confirmed their claims when he reportedly found Buhrer asleep in a hallway with an “overwhelmingly strong odor of intoxicants” coming from him and a half-empty bottle of Fireball visible inside his jacket. The officer said he and his colleagues had arrested Burher several times before for public intoxication.

Buhrer is charged with first-degree larceny. A warrant was issued for his arrest Friday and he does not appear to be in custody yet.
