Vicki Zhao Announces Divorce Online, Says It’s Been Many Years Since Separation, Entertainment News

Chinese actress Zhao Wei, also known as Vicki Zhao, has confirmed that she divorced businessman Huang You Long a few years ago, a detail she had until now kept private.

After stepping away from the limelight in recent years, the 48-year-old actress made the admission on Weibo at around 2pm on Saturday (December 28), creating shock waves online, Lianhe Zaobao reported.

In the post, she shared that her marriage has been legally ended for a long time and any event, remark or news about her ex-husband has nothing to do with her.

“I implore all parties to acknowledge these facts and avoid involving me in false associations or unfounded reports,” she shared.

However, Vicki, famous for her starring role in the 90s drama series My Fair Princess, did not explain why the divorce was announced at this time and what “false associations or unfounded reports” have troubled her recently.

Fans left messages on the post expressing their support for Vicki and their decision to split.

Other comments also said fans could not justify her involvement in her “ex-husband’s mess” while praising the actress for her courage in announcing the split, Zaobao reported.

Wrote one commenter: “Already knew about this a few years ago, great that you finally said it. Live bravely as you are!”

According to Zaobao, the pair got married 16 years ago, and although there were rumors of divorce, they were never confirmed.

Fans added that while they could understand the actress’ dislike of explaining things, some things “just need to be explained.”

Lawsuit filed against Huang

Youlong, 48, was accused of owing about HK$753 million (about S$132 million) to a venture capital firm, Hong Kong media said.

The company filed a lawsuit in a Hong Kong court on Monday to recover the amount from the Chinese-born businessman.

According to HK01 and Ming Pao, the lawsuit stated that Youlong owes the company approximately US$753 million in principal and interest.
