We all have a role to play in educating young people

President William Ruto addresses residents of Koiwa, Bomet County on Sunday 29 December 2024.

President William Ruto has called for concerted efforts to feed the youth as they go through troubled times.

Speaking at AIC, Koiwa Town in Konoin, Bomet County on Sunday, the President said parents, religious leaders and politicians all have a role to play in ensuring a meaningful future for the youth.

“We don’t have the luxury of a blame game or finger pointing. We should all ensure the future of our children, it is our responsibility,” he said.

He said the youth must be given mentorship and guidance as they plan for their future.

“We should take care of the next generation. We should educate them and provide mentoring and guidance. We should not let them get into traps, drugs and things like femicide,” he added.

Governors Hillary Barchok (Bomet) and Erick Mutai (Kericho) and MPs Mathias Robi (Kuria West), John Njuguna Wanjiku (Kiambaa), Linet Chepkorir (Bomet Woman Rep), Francis Sigei (Sotik), Richard Kilel were present at the church service . (Bomet Central), Johanna Ng’eno (Emurua Dikirr) and Eddy Ochieng (Migori) Senator) and a host of MCAs.

In his address to the faithful, Ruto argued that leaders should take care of the youth so that they can have a promising future.

“As a government, we will do our part. Parents and religious leaders should also play their part,” he said.

His remarks follow a promise to end kidnappings in the country.

Speaking in Homa Bay on Friday, Ruto urged the youths to desist from irresponsible and insensitive behaviors that could land them in trouble.

The President further conveyed the responsibility of parents whom he urged to protect their children and make them responsible citizens.

“I want to ask the parents, these children are our blessings from God. Every parent should look after their children and as a government we will do our part. We will stop kidnappings so that young Kenyans can live in peace But at the same time they should be disciplined and responsible so that we can build our country together,” he said.
