Spanish Bar Owner Arrested After Google Maps Catches Him ‘Stuffing Body In Car Boot’

A Spanish bar owner dubbed the “Wolf of Tayueco” was arrested after Google Street View footage allegedly captured him loading white plastic bags believed to contain human remains into the trunk of a car.

This discovery led to the arrest of both the man and his lover, the victim’s wife, following the grim discovery of a dismembered body in a cemetery in Andalusia, Spain.

Google Maps captures shocking evidence

The investigation into the disappearance of a 33-year-old Cuban man took an unexpected turn when authorities analyzed images from Google Street View.

These images showed a man in jeans and overalls placing large plastic bags into the boot of a red car near the cemetery where the victim’s remains were later discovered.

Conformable Metrothe victim had traveled from Cuba to visit his wife, only to discover her relationship with another man. This tragic visit culminated in his disappearance last November, prompting a year-long investigation.

Discovery of human remains

The Spanish National Police confirmed that part of the victim’s remains were found buried in a cemetery in Soria, Andalusia.

Advanced forensic techniques were used to identify the body. While official identification is still pending, police strongly believe the remains belong to the missing Cuban man.

A spokesman for the Spanish National Police said: “National Police officers have detained two people allegedly involved in the disappearance and death of a man who was reported missing last November by a relative. Some of the victim’s remains were found buried in a cemetery in Andalusia, in Soria, using advanced techniques.

Suspicious messages prompt investigations

The victim’s family became suspicious after receiving text messages allegedly sent by him, claiming he had met a new woman and was throwing away his mobile phone.

The family, not convinced of the authenticity of the messages, alerted the authorities, suspecting foul play.

The police spokesman added: ‘Texts received by the missing man’s family said he had met a girl and was getting rid of his phone. This made the relative suspect that someone else was sending the messages, prompting him to alert the police.

Arrests and key evidence

Police detained the victim’s wife and her boyfriend on suspicion of illegal detention after the pair failed to provide a satisfactory explanation for his disappearance. Searches of their homes and vehicles turned up other evidence linking them to the murder.

“Searches of the pair’s homes and vehicles were subsequently authorized by police where evidence relevant to the investigation was discovered,” the spokesman said.

“The online image, which shows a vehicle that may have been used in the crime, was additional evidence.”

The man captured in Google Street View images, dubbed the “Wolf of Tayueco,” was arrested near the cemetery where the dismembered remains were discovered. Police suspect that he and the victim’s wife conspired to commit the gruesome act.

Public outrage and investigation updates

Google Street View’s shocking role in uncovering evidence has drawn widespread attention. As forensic experts work to confirm the victim’s identity, authorities continue to piece together the events that led to his death.

This case highlights how technology, originally designed for navigation and exploration, can inadvertently help solve crimes. While Google Street View provided critical evidence in this case, other tech companies are also innovating their mapping tools.

For example, PCMag reports that Apple is working to expand its own mapping capabilities with a feature called Apple Look Around, designed to rival Google’s offering. Although still in its infancy, such technology could similarly play an unforeseen role in future investigations.
