Amid the political row over voter registration between the Aam Aadmi Party and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Delhi Police registered an FIR against four people for allegedly submitting fake online applications for voter registration through Form-6 on Sunday, an official said. said.

The action was taken after the electoral registration officer of Okhla wrote a letter to the Shaheen Bagh SHO pointing out four such fraudulent applications. The letter read: “These applicants have uploaded using false documents in support of their applications.”

The letter included the names of four persons – Mohammad Haris, Anu Sharma, Anil Kumar Jain and Mohammad Azizur Rahman. According to the letter, the applicants have manipulated your documents like Aadhar and others as proof of both identity and residence to cheat the authorities.

The letter further said, “It has been found that the above mentioned applicants have tried to cheat the authorities by altering documents including Aadhar cards and electricity bills as proof of identity and residence.” Taking cognizance of the letter, the police lodged an FIR against all the four persons.

AAP vs BJP on voter registration

It should be noted that the AAP has alleged that the BJP is conspiring to delete the names of voters from the electoral roll as it fears losses in the Delhi Assembly elections. On the contrary, BJP has accused AAP of trying to register illegal voters. The fight escalated to press conferences when Arvind Kejriwal came on camera accusing the BJP of carrying out ‘Operation Lotus’ to manipulate voters in Delhi. Following this, Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva told a press conference that his party would not allow “fake votes” to be cast in Delhi. “We have provided more evidence but Kejriwal is only trying to hide his ‘mistakes’ by creating confusion among people,” he charged.
