Top-10 junior Caleb Gaskins updates recruiting after Jordan Holiday Classic

By CHARLIE PARENT

Caleb Gaskinsa five-star in the class of 2026, dominated the Jordan Holiday Classic, averaging 15 points and 4 rebounds in three games for Christopher Columbus High School (FL.). He posted a game-high 21 points on 10-of-18 shooting Saturday night in a loss to Long Island Lutheran. The physical 6-foot-8 forward is blossoming in his first year in Columbus, teaming up with five-star Duke commit. Like Boozerhis twin brother Duke also engages Cayden Boozer and 2026 five stars Jackson Richardson. Transferred from coveted Montverde Academy with the aim of getting more touches and showing his true potential. “The transition went very well, it was a very good experience. It was a great move for me and this school was the best fit for me.” He has been rewarded on the recruiting front for his stellar play, with Alabama, Villanova, Auburn, LSU and Georgia looking to bring Gaskins to campus in the future. He hasn’t received a visit and doesn’t have one set right now, but will look to do so in the spring after Columbus’ season. In addition to the programs mentioned above, Duke, South Carolina, Baylor and Michigan have all been to Gaskins’ high school to watch their games. Kansas is also in the mix. He aims to start narrowing down the options in the summer after those spring visits. “(I’m looking for) a school that welcomes me and a school that feels like home,” he said. “A school that has a good coaching staff and a good environment.” Gaskins broke down three of his options:

Leads: “Everybody knows it’s a very nice program. They produce professionals, so I think it’s a very good school.”

Chestnut: “Auburn is very good, they are very physical. I like how they like to defend and get stops and they’re doing really well right now.”

Alabama: “Also, Alabama is really good. Just their style of offense and the way they score the basketball, it’s a really free offense.” In terms of skill set, he is a versatile striker who can work inside or outside. Gaskins feels he has the ability to impact the game in many different ways, and his usage revolves around the flow of the contest. “I feel like I’d like to be in a five-out offense,” he said. “I could really handle a driving offense and look out for myself.” “It (usage) depends on how the game goes,” he concluded “Today (Friday) I was more inside and posted. There could be other days where I’m out and hitting threes, so I think it just depends on how the game goes.”
