Police: Theft suspect stole thousands in sunglasses, ran and crashed car

CRANSTON, RI (WLNE) — A suspect known to the Garden City Sunglass Hut and Cranston Police is wanted for allegedly stealing $3,656 worth of Versace sunglasses Sunday night.

The suspect has a restraining order against him from Sunglass Hut due to previous shoplifting incidents and allegedly stole the nine pairs of sunglasses on Sunday evening at approximately 5:52pm.

He fled on foot and entered a parked car nearby, according to Cranston police.

Officers were notified a short time later of a car that had left the road and crashed into a driveway at Top Golf on Pontiac Avenue.

Several people were seen fleeing the area on foot.

A K-9 unit was dispatched to the area but was unable to locate the subjects.

Several pairs of brand new Versace sunglasses were found inside the crashed vehicle and an arrest warrant was issued for the suspect.

He is charged with felony shoplifting and criminal mischief.
