The Metrobank Foundation continues its communication efforts in Pag-asa Island

Metrobank Foundation (MBFI) and Metrobank Foundation Alumni Networks Outstanding Filipinos returned to Pag-asa Island, Kalayaan, Palawan for the second leg of the outreach program Guro, Pulis, Sundalo and May Galing, Puso, in Sigasig ( GPS). November 15-16, 2024.

More than 345 residents have benefited from the initiative, including 15 teachers, 107 students and 125 soldiers and in uniform.

This multisectoral effort addressed educational, health and community needs. Key activities included a mental health session led by Dr. Regina and Randy Alampay, technology training for teachers by 2016 awardees Winona Diola and Jay Diola, and sports and self-defense training clinics for students by Topsoldiers in partnership with Rotary clubs.

The program provided education uniforms, sports equipment and books for the Pag-asa Integrated School.

Health care services included consultations led by Drs. Gil Vicente, oral hygiene sessions and first aid training. Family oral care packages and mobility aids were distributed, along with food packages from GT Foundation’s “Blessing Bags” and 75 bags of rice.

A multimedia room with computers, projectors and books was also established. Local officials and partners expressed their gratitude during a culminating ceremony.

Launched in 2018, GPS² exemplifies MBFI’s commitment to empowering remarkable Filipinos while addressing critical needs in remote communities like Pag-asa Island.
