Novato Police Make Alleged Serial Burglary Arrest

Police have arrested a San Francisco man accused of repeated shoplifting at a Target in Novato.

The store notified police Friday night after the man allegedly left the store with about $2,000 worth of merchandise he didn’t pay for. Novato police said the same man is suspected in four previous burglaries at the store.

Jared Robert Benson, 27, was booked into the Marin County Jail on suspicion of five counts of burglary and an outstanding warrant involving a burglary in Morgan Hill. He remained in custody Monday in lieu of $260,000 bail.
