Elderly couple, their son found murdered on farm in TN | Latest news India

An elderly couple and their son were found murdered in their farmhouse at Palladam in Tiruppur, Tamil Nadu on Friday morning, police officials in the know said on Friday.

The deceased have been identified as Deivasigamani, 78, a farmer, his wife Alamelu, 75, and their son Senthil Kumar. Kumar, an IT employee, lived in nearby Coimbatore district and had come to meet his parents on Thursday evening to accompany them to a family celebration. He is survived by his wife and two children, they added.

The three bodies were first seen by a local barber on Friday morning. He was allegedly asked by Deivasigamani to visit the house, the police said.

After an initial investigation, the police suspected that it was a case of burglary, as the gold items were missing from the house. However, the police are probing the case from different angles, they added.

“Five special teams have been constituted to investigate all angles related to the triple murder,” Tiruppur city police commissioner S Lakshmi said. “We are looking into whether the family had any previous enmity with anyone,” the commissioner added.

“We found the bodies of the man and his mother inside the farm and the body of his father was recovered outside. Perhaps he came out after hearing the noise of strangers entering the farm. Around eight gold sovereigns were stolen from the house,” said a police officer.

The incident took place at a time when opposition parties in Tamil Nadu accused the DMK government of deteriorating the law and order situation in the state.

AIADMK General Secretary and Leader of Opposition Edappadi Palaniswami (EPS) said criminals have no fear under the DMK regime. “It makes us wonder whether there is a government in the state to prevent crimes,” the EPS said, demanding Chief Minister MP Stalin to instruct the police department to arrest the accused soon.
