Ohio State, Michigan players battle at midfield after the Wolverines try to plant the flag after the win

One of the biggest upsets in the history of one of college football’s most heated rivalries ended in a fight.

In the moments after Michigan insured a stunning 13-10 win against archiving Ohio State on Saturday at Ohio Stadium, Wolves and Buckeyes the players got into a scuffle near midfield.

The disturbance appeared to be ignited by a group of Wolverines players attempting to plant a corn and blue Michigan flag on Ohio State’s midfield logo.

From there, a physical altercation ensued, with pushing between the two teams until the two sides were finally separated after a few minutes. Before the fight was stopped, Fox television cameras showed Buckeyes quarterback Jack Sawyer ripping the Michigan flag from Wolverines players and throwing it onto the field before walking off.

The win was Michigan’s fourth straight against Ohio State, giving the Wolverines their longest streak since 1988-91.

“For such a great game, you don’t like to see things like that after the game,” Michigan running back Kalel Mullings said in a postgame interview with Fox. “It’s bad for sports, bad for college football. But at the end of the day, some people have to learn how to lose. You can’t fight and stuff just because you lost a game. We had 60 minutes, we had four quarters to do the whole fight. Now people want to talk and fight. It is wrong.”
