Kalen DeBoer makes the case for Alabama football to make the CFP

Saturday afternoon in Tuscaloosa, Alabama Crimson Tide Head coach Kalen DeBoer got his first annual taste of one of college football’s best rivalries, the Iron Bowl.

A must-win game for Alabama against their biggest rivals, the Crimson Tide would have that win over Auburn Tigers also, overtaking the enemy in state with a final score 28-14.

Not only was it DeBoer’s first win over Auburn, but it also marked a big one for the Crimson Tide, who keep their College Football Playoff hopes alive despite three losses.

DeBoer was asked about it and after the Auburn game, the Crimson Tide head coach will make a case for why he thinks Alabama should make it to the CFP, even with three losses.

“I think everybody is aware of our schedule,” DeBoer said. “I don’t know the exact stats, but I know we beat four Top 25 teams over the course of the year. I don’t know how many, if any, have done this. When you talk about the schedule and what it’s like week to week, it’s just a shot. I have to come back every week, the only conference that has to do that is ours. That’s what I would say. We’ve won four of the last six. Playing some physical football and they continued to excel in that area through what the game is all about. I think those are two pretty big deals. We’ve beaten some high-quality teams, teams that are still playing good football themselves, and they’ve only won four of their last six in the back half of the season.”

While Alabama beat Auburn on Saturday, the Crimson Tide also got help elsewhere as several teams ahead of them in the CFP standings lost, such as Miami and Clemson.

With just one week left until the CFP bracket is released, could the Crimson Tide hit the ground running in the upcoming rankings release on Tuesday night?
