Star Wars actor Daisy Ridley’s new heist flick gets first trailer and looks like Die Hard mixed with Mission: Impossible

Daisy Ridley’s new heist flick Cleaner just got its action-packed first trailer, and it looks like Mission: Impossible will have a female lead.

The clip, which you can watch below, opens with Ridley’s character cleaning the windows of a giant office when several masked men infiltrate a special event inside — just like Joker and the men storms Bruce Wayne’s gala from The Dark Knight.

The leader of the heist reveals himself and instructs his men to take the participants hostage as he calls them “Greedy, needy, showy”, adding that he intends to “illuminate your crimes”. With the police standing helplessly outside, Ridley’s character goes inside and starts taking out the criminals one by one, proving that there’s a lot more to him than first meets the eye.

Directed by Casino Royale helmer Martin Campbell, the action thriller is set in present-day London and follows a window cleaner’s (Ridley) fight for justice against a group of criminals looking to pull off an office heist.

The official synopsis reads: “After a group of criminal activists take over an energy company’s annual gala to expose its corruption, their righteous cause is hijacked by an extremist who is ready to kill everyone in the building to convey his the anarchic message. It’s up to an ex-soldier-turned-window-cleaner (Ridley)—suspended 50 stories outside the building—to save those trapped inside, including her little brother.”

In addition to Ridley, the film also stars Children of Men Clive Owen and One Piece star Taz Skylar. James Bond’s Campbell directs from a script written by Matthew Orton, Simon Uttley and Paul Andrew Williams.
