Police: Santa Rosa man accused of threatening victim with gun

Investigators found two guns while searching the suspect’s home Wednesday, police said. A second suspect was arrested at the scene.

A Santa Rosa man is suspected of pointing a gun at a victim before leaving Wednesday afternoon, police said Thursday.

Edgar Silva-Mendoza, 29, was arrested on suspicion of making threats with a weapon in a public place, a misdemeanor, according to the Santa Rosa Police Department.

He is also charged with weapons possession and probation violation.

The reported incident happened Wednesday around 3:50 p.m. near Stony Point and Sebastopol roads, where a suspect reported someone brandishing a black handgun before driving off.

Sgt. by the police. Patricia Seffens said the suspect was seen pulling out the gun while arguing with the victim.

Seffens said they don’t appear to know each other, but she has no information about what led to the fight.

Officers received a description of the suspect’s vehicle and police located him at a home in the 1000 block of Kenmore Lane. This is less than a quarter of a mile southwest of Stony Point and Sebastopol roads.

Officers approached Silva-Mendoza as he exited the vehicle. The victim identified him as the person who brandished the gun, police said.

The gun and a second gun were found by officers at that home in the bedroom of Santa Rosa’s 31-year-old Frederick Silva-Mendoza, police said.

He was arrested on suspicion of being an accessory to a felony while on bail, police said.

The victims are brothers, police said.
