Shoe Theft: Couple Arrested With Over 100 Stolen Pairs | News from Hyderabad

Hyderabad: In Bharat Nagar, Uppal, footwear was mysteriously disappearing and the locals were clueless. They soon realized that someone was systematically sneaking into houses and stealing shoes, slippers and sandals.
On Wednesday, a suspicious man was spotted by a neighbor, who followed him. Soon, others joined. And it became clear that they had come across something much bigger than a single missing pair of slippers at the suspicious man’s house.
The house was, in fact, a shoe fortress. Stacked in sacks, on shelves and even on the roof, were hundreds of stolen shoes and slippers. Neighbors were shocked to see rows upon rows of shoes that had once belonged to them. Locals recognized their lost items. The accused was helped by his wife in this “grand theft of shoes”.
After the residents complained, the Uppal police registered a case of theft against the couple. The crime committed by the accused was caught on CCTV cameras and the accused were confronted by the neighbours. It turned out that the couple had sold their “stolen treasures” in different parts of the city.
Some curious locals even recorded the “search operations” for the missing shoes from the couple’s house on their mobile phones.
