The NFL isn’t changing its relationship with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation

Jay-Z facing a bump in the road right now: a few days ago, a civil suit the rapper and businessman has been accused of raping a 13-year-old girl alongside Diddy. Despite that, the NFL currently has no plans to alter its relationship with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation, the entertainment company that produces the Super Bowl.

That Variety NOTESduring a press conference yesterday (Dec. 11), NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said, “We’re aware of the civil charges and Jay-Z’s really strong response to it. We obviously know there’s litigation, but from our perspective, our relationship with them doesn’t change, including our preparations for the next Super Bowl.”

He added: “I think they’re incredibly comfortable not only with the Super Bowl, but with other events that they’ve advised us on and helped us with. They have helped us in the field of social justice many times. They have been great partners who have provided us with a lot of value.”

As for the “really strong response,” Goodell noted, Jay wrote in a statement“My lawyer received a blackmail attempt called a demand letter from a ‘lawyer’ named Tony Buzbee. What he had calculated was the nature of these allegations, and public scrutiny would make me want to settle. No sir, it had the opposite effect! It made me want to expose you for the fraud you are in a VERY public way. So no, I will not give you ONE RED PENNY!!”
