Man on probation, jail for burglary, assault charges

12 Dec — WAPAKONETA — A New Bremen man was sentenced to five years of probation and 180 days in jail Wednesday in Auglaize Common Pleas Court after pleading guilty to third-degree felony counts of burglary and felony assault in October.

Nicholas Kramer, 31, must also pay $6,000 in fines and $1,372.50 in victim restitution. He cannot have any contact with the victim and the child they have together must be treated with a third party present. He must also complete counseling and will have to wear an ankle monitor that measures his blood alcohol concentration.

He stayed out of jail after the hearing so he could keep his job, and the jail sentence will be served at a time to be determined by his probation officer.

Kramer said he has struggled with alcoholism for most of his adult life and regularly attends Alcoholics Anonymous meetings.
